No, the first notice we had was their successful 1949 test. We were just beginning to setup surveillance systems at that time, in expectation that they would eventually develop nuclear weapons, but did not expect to see positive results on what was an early practice sampling flight.
The U.S. is first to have nuclear weapons, having nukes since 1945. The Soviet Union followed the U.S. by developing and testing their first nuke in 1949. Both nation started making hydrogen bombs (nukes using nuclear fission to explode) starting in the mid-1950s. Excuse me replying with a question, but were the Atomic bombs dropped on Japan in 1945 Nuclear weapons ? I am assuming they were, but do not know of the differentiation.
Difficult to know. We're still here, the Soviet Union collapsed under its own weight, and there was no nuclear World War III. So obviously, we didn't mess it up TOO badly. Certainly, we could have done far worse than we did, and we can all point to a myriad of mistakes along the way. But there was no nuclear war, and that counts for a LOT.
i know 6 SS-4 Nuclear missiles
We won't know that for several years, if ever.
The closest we came to a nuclear confrontation with Russia that I know of, was under John F. Kennedy during the Cuban Blockade in 1962.
During the Cold War, the fact and knowledge (though not necessarily the specific details) about Soviet submarines (DE and Nuclear) were in fact known throughout the civilian population.
Yes they did. The US had missles pointing at the USSR, the USSR had missles pointing at the US, and everybody else didn't know what too do.
no they are opponents
If Russia, Afghanistan or any country tries to attack us we can use a nuclear weapon and send them back home. The countries with nuclear weapons won't attack us with those weapons because they know that if they attack with them, we will attack them back ans nobody wants to be attacked.
And I believe this belongs in "nuclear physics," and I should know, I'm nuclear.
Impossible to predict (or postdict). It could have been anything from a tiny number of cities destroyed to everything needed for modern life as we know it destroyed.
The Soviet weapons program proper began in 1943 during World War II, under the leadership of physicist Igor Vasilievich Kurchatov. The program was initiated by reports collected by Soviet intelligence about the rapidly growing Manhattan Project in the U.S. It went up to a narrow scape to the closest the world has come to nuclear war wich was the Cuban Missile Crisis of October 1962. The Soviets had installed nuclear missiles in Cuba, just 90 miles off the coast of the United States. U.S. armed forces were at their highest state of readiness. Soviet field commanders in Cuba were authorized to use tactical nuclear weapons if invaded by the U.S. The fate of millions literally hinged upon the ability of two men, President John F. Kennedy and Premier Nikita Khrushchev, to reach a compromise. I remember President Kennedy once stated... that the United States had the nuclear missile capacity to wipe out the Soviet Union two times over, while the Soviet Union had enough atomic weapons to wipe out the Unites States only once... When journalists asked me to comment... I said jokingly, "Yes, I know what Kennedy claims, and he's quite right. But I'm not complaining... We're satisfied to be able to finish off the United States first time round. Once is quite enough. What good does it do to annihilate a country twice? We're not a bloodthirsty people."

i have no fudgging ideaabout nuclear power but i would like to know
Not clear what is the question-it obviously concerns the nuclear deal but what do you want to know about it?
Russians do not know how to use nuclear weapons
Man, do you need to use the Spell Check program! I THINK you meant to ask "WHO WAS PRESIDENT WHEN THE SOVIET UNION LAUNCHED THEIR SPACE SHUTTLE?" As they don't have a space shuttle, we don't know who the president will be when they do have one.
