Shakespeares son Hamnet, died when he was 11. The cause of his death is unknown.
I studied Shakespeare in University and don't ever remember reading he went to jail. In looking through the various short biographies on him, again, I see no references to jail. There is a brief reference to him possibly being a poacher during his lost years, but no mention of jail.
William Shakespeare did not leave any record of how he felt about his son's death. He did write King John shortly his son died and there is a mother in the play who loses her son and is racked with grief.
Shakespeare does not seem to have behaved in any way differently after 1596 from the way he behaved before 1596. The death of his son did not seem to affect his behaviour in any way. In particular, he did not write elegiac poems about Hamnet, or write the play Hamlet (he wrote that play five years later, and it is unlikely that his son's death affected his choice to dramatise that story).
Nothing much. Shakespeare's daughters were both married and they continued on with their married lives. Anne, his widow, lived on at New Place until her death. During this time she arranged for the monument to be placed in Stratford church and probably assisted Heminges and Condell to put out the First Folio.
Exactly the same as what he did before his son died. There is no sign of any change of behaviour or attitude whatsoever in Shakespeare around 1596 when Hamnet died. Indeed, this was the period in which he wrote some of his happiest and most joyful plays, not the tragedies and definitely not Hamlet. He would not start writing that kind of play for five years.
It is highly unlikely that Shakespeare killed his son. First of all, we know of no reason why he would have wanted to do so, and secondly, he was apparently quite a long ways away from Stratford when Hamnet died.
