The "Texans" didn't win the Battle of the Alamo. General Santa Anna and his army did. When the Alamo was lost the battle cry "Remember the Alamo" was started and it mobilized the Texans to resist Santa Anna even more until Texas was eventually in American hands.
The battle of the Alamo wasn't successful all the Texans where killed including James Bowie and Davy Crockett, but it was a reason to try harder to win the next battle.
Because of the loss at the Alamo, which followed the massacre at Goliad, Texans were ever more determined to win their independence from Mexico.
