The war between the Titans and Zeus and his brothers and sisters,called the "Titanomachy" started, it lasted 10 years
Saturn (or Cronos), son of Uranus and Gaia, was the ruler of the titans and father of Zeus, who later rebelled against him and his siblings in the Titanomachy.
He was one of the leading Titan in the Titanomachy (the war between the Titans and the Olympians). Zeus condemned him to holding up the sky for all eternity.
Kronos and the Titans lost power during the Titanomachy, a war between the Titans and the Olympians led by Zeus. In this epic battle, Zeus and his siblings overthrew the Titans and banished them to Tartarus, a deep abyss in the underworld, thus establishing the reign of the Olympian gods.
All the Titans e.g. Cronus, Atlas, Hyperion, Gaia etc. All the Olympians e.g. Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Ares And basically everthing that existed at that time.

According to the Titanomachy, Zeus punished Atlas for joining the other Titans (and not his brothers Prometheus and Epimetheus) by condemning him to support Ouranos (Uranus - the heavens) on this shoulders for eternity.

He wasn't tricked. After the Titanomachy, the war between the Olympians and the Titans, the three brothers, Zeus, Poseidon and Hades, drew lots to determine which realms they would rule. Hades drew the underworld, which seemed to fit his demeanor best anyway.
