Billy Lyall, a member of the Bay City Rollers from 1969 to 1971, died of AIDS releated causes in 1989 at the age of 36. Lyall was not a member during the band's heyday and is better known as the keyboard player in Pilot ('Whoa, oh, oh, it's maaagic...').
Of the nine members who came and went during the Roller's most successful years (Alan and Derek Longmuir, Eric Faulkner, John Devine, Leslie McKeown, Stuart 'Woody' Wood, Ian Mitchell, Pat McGlynn and Duncan Faure), all are, as of 2011, still very much alive.
