It was a well planned invasion of France planned by the Allies during World War II. It was about getting troops into France in order to take it back from the Germans and then move into Germany to end the war.
France gained the provinces called Alsace and Lorraine. They originally were a part of France, but then the Germans took over the provinces during the Franco-Prussian War before World War I. After World War I, France gained them back.
Haha, it's a matter of opinion. But France in mine, because they not got taken over by the Germans and became Vichy France, but then also allied with the Germans when they saw that the take over was imminent. Then, when the US came to fight the German occupation, France switched sides yet again, allying with the US. -Linds

France was occupied by the Germans after they surrendered to the Germans. Some French soldiers made it to England and they fought against the Germans again when the Normandy Invasion occurred. I have added another link for you below.
Basically, it was the swiftness of the German advancement, known as blitzkrieg - lightning war.
The Germans initially bombed France to conquer the country. The Allied Forces were forced to bomb France to get rid of the Germans.
France fought the Germans with the English.
They surrendered to the Germans and the French Vichey Government sided with Germany
France didn't split into two governments in WW2.The Nothern and coastal regions were occupied by the Nazis, and controlled by the German government. The part of France that was not occupied by the Germans (but did collaborate with them), called Vichy France (Vichy being the seat of the government), was governed by Petain.
They didn't actually take it during the first world war. They captured it just after the Franco-Prussian war in 1870.
