Well, first of all it's spelled and pronounced Cummins, and it is an engine manufactured by that company.
This my personal input. I have three Cummins power Dodge truck. 1991 with 340,00 miles. 1996 with 240,000 miles. 1998 24 valve with 170,000. and all are still going strong.
Depends on your engine. Cats, Detroits, and Cummins all have their "sweet spots" - and they're not the same.
There should be an 8-digit number on a dataplate. No letters all number. Call Cummins for help.
A 1996 Dodge Ram does not have a speedometer cable. The system is all electric.
All that is required to restart a 2006 Cummins is to add fuel and crank the engine. The fuel system is self bleeding.
Depends cummins powerstroke or duramax or even a little TDI Jetta are all different
Cummins is good. Dodge is not. Cummins has always been a good engine. Dodge is lucky to have the contract with Cummins. I have 2 Dodge Cummins (an 1992 and 2006). Both have electrical problems and the transmission in my 2006 isn't great and that's with stock power and only 93,000 miles. The 12-valve Cummins is all mechanical- easy and cheap to get power out of it. The 24-valve Cummins is computerized- have to buy a programmer. The best combination would be a Cummins in a Chevy.
bleed the brakes. check fluid level
Pump the brakes when the car is off.
Not to be short with this answer; they all are best over the stock system. I looked at all their spec. and dyno readings. They are all about the same & priced high. After all the looking around. I just built my own twin system. With a cummins & straight out the back it really sounds different than all the others.
Yes, there are many interchangeable parts. Almost all of the suspension, shocks, brakes and steering parts are interchangeable. Many of the engine parts if you have the same model engine. Electronics are possibly different although items like starter, alternator, wipers are often the same.Yes, there are many interchangeable parts.
