no. the Athenian women did not participate in public life or own property. They took their status from their husbands and ere only allowed to accompany them publicly to the theater or religious festivals.

Athenian women did not have very many rights compared to for instance the women of Sparta. Their lives were totally controlled by their fathers before they married, and by their husbands after they married. Any property they had, inherited or were given, automatically became the property of their husbands. Athenian women were not supposed to go outside the house unless for a very good reason, like visiting a neighbor or relative. Inside the house they were largely kept in women's quarters. They had almost no legal rights, and could not vote.

Although married women were supposed to simply put up with their husband's extramarital relations with boys, men and/or prostitutes, they could get a divorce. But then they were returned to the total control of their father or nearest male relative.
