Yes.
Anne Hutchinson believed people should pray directly to god.
She believed that everyone should have free religious beliefs. That is why she was expelled from the Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1638.
Hutchinson was a women who spoke out in church about how the religious leaders were substituting their own judgment for that of God's. So they were judging people in a way that should only be judged by God. Winthrop was the one the brought her to trial for heresy and she was tested on her biblical knowledge, her knowledge far exceeded that of her questioners and she probably would have been aquitted had she not said that God had directly revealed himself to her (which protestants don't believe God does anymore). She was then banished and went to Rhode Island.
Anne Hutchinson thought that the distinction between sinner and saint should not be based on church attendance or moral behavior, as it was at the time. Instead, she believed that it should be determined by the inner state of grace. Because she leading discussions of religious issues and spreading her ideas, she was looked down upon by the clergy. However, the main reason for her banishment from the Massachusetts bay colony was her gender. The male clergy were not pleased that a woman was spreading religious ideas contrasting theirs. Anne Hutchinson settled in what is now Westchester, and many of her followers became Quakers.
Some of the people of Quebec believe that they should have independence as a separate country.- so do some of the people of Scotland, Wales, Normandy, Sardinia, Texas, Idaho and many other places. Many people fail to see reality.
That the laws of the church and state should be separate. (NovaNET)
