Anne's family went into hidding in July 1942 and were later joined by a few friends. They went into hidding faster then they were planing to since Margot (Anne's sister) received a call-up notice from the Central Office for Jewish Emigration ordering her to report for relocation to a work camp. They had planned to go into hidding for the reason of not wanting to be seperated or being forced into work camps (Or worst).
