No president fought in the Korean War. Jimmy Carter was in the navy while the war was going on but did not get close to Korea.

I do not know what you mean by "assist". Presidents always take an active role in pursuing any war. They commmand the military and move around commanders who are not winning. They visit the troops. As a rule, they really do everything but fight in the field.
