You are probably thinking of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor. The Duchess, who bore the name of Wallis Warfield Simpson was a native of Baltimore and it is said she became enamored of the Royal family while staying at the (unaffiliated) Windsor Hotel in that town. It is possible the Duke and Duchess- no longer technically Royals- but still Nobility- ( He abdicated before being formally crowned, an event shocking the H--- out of Queen Mary, not to mention clergy types- it was said that the Prince himself declared ( The Archbishop will blow a fuse!)- Sure did- as he would perform the religious ceremony at the Coronation- which never happened. It is entirely possible the embattled couple may have resided in Baltimore commencing in the Late thirties. The (Windsor Crisis) occured in 1937 as did the Electra Project and the Hindenberg disaster!
