No, actually Thyestes had an affair with Atreus's wife.
Chopping up the children of his brother Thyestes and serving them to him.
"Thyestes" was written by the Roman playwright Seneca the Younger, also known as Seneca. It is a tragedy based on the Greek myth about the rivalry between Thyestes and his brother Atreus.
n Greek mythology, Thyestes (Θυέστης) was the son of Pelops, King of Olympia, and Hippodamia and father of Pelopia and Aegisthus. Thyestes and his twin brother, Atreus, were exiled by their father for having murdered their half-brother, Chrysippus in their desire for the throne of Olympia. I can be a little more specific than that. Agamemnon is best known for being the King of Mycenae (and much of Achaea) during the time of the Trojan War. He was from the doomed house of Atreus (which was founded by Tantalus, son of Zeus), and his life was dominated by rape, murder, cannibalism and general debauchery. Agamemnon's father killed and fed his brother Thyestes' children to him because he was caught with Atreus' wife. Thyestes fathered a son by how own daughter and that son, Aegisthus vowed revenge. He killed Atreus and placed his father on the throne. Agamemnon and his younger brother, Menelaus fled to Sparta and lived there until the death of Thyestes, when Agamemnon went back to claim the throne. Since he was Menelaus' older brother, when the time came for the suitors of Helen to repay their promise to protect her, he led the armies his brother called. He wasn't responsible for the Greek victory, though, that largely lay with Achilles and Odysseus. Upon returning to Mycenae, Agamemnon discovered that his wife, Clytemnestra had taken Aegisthus as a lover and the pair murdered him. -Indiriel ------------------- He was the king of Greece and a distant descendant of Zeus. He took part in the Trojan war. He was also brother - in law to Helen of Troy.
In Greek mythology, Atreus was the King of Mycenae and father of Agamemnon and Menelaus. Menelaus's wife Helen was abducted by the Trojan prince Paris, precipitating the Trojan war.
The main story of the house of Atreus is the murder of Agamemnon and his revenge by his son Orestes. This is the theme of Aeschylus trilogy of plays the Oresteia - and if you want to know the story in detail you should probably read or watch these plays. If you just want a general outline of the story you should read the relevant sub-chapter in Bullfinch' Age of Fable (scroll down the page linked to until you get to Agamemnon, Orestes, Electra. You could also google Atreus and Thyestes for the backstory of the main action - it depends how much detail you want.
