Christopher Columbus' main goal was to find gold and other treasures. The fact that he found a completely new land to settle was not something he intended.
The goal for Columbus had to do with the spice trade. He set out to discover a better route to India. Christopher Columbus was an Italian explorer.
Christopher Columbus did and did'NT accomplish his goal. He did accomplish finding new land and new people. But did not accomplish finding special rocks such as diamonds, spices or India.

Upon reaching what is now North America, Christopher Columbus, whose original goal was to sail around the world to India, thought that he had accomplished his goal. When he discovered that there were natives in the New World, he mistakenly called them Indians, believing that they were natives of India.
Culminating in the discovery of the New World (if only a very small portion thereof), the first voyage of Christopher Columbus led him and many others to believe that he had discovered a new passage from Europe to the East Indies. As such a discovery was his goal when he set out, he believed that he had accomplished that goal, thereby paving the way for new trading possibilities and increased riches for Europe, among other anticipated benefits.
