This simply isn't true. Hunting dogs have been domesticated since prehistory in the related URL links there is a picture from the tomb of Tutankhamen showing him with a dog at his side.

Therefore it is highly likely is that Cleopatra had dogs. As a Pharaoh she would have been expected to follow tradition and be seen to be participating in 'Pharaoh like' occupations.
