No. The St. John Ambulance brigade is a common name used by a number of affiliated organisations worldwide who provide medical first aid and ambulance services, mostly on a voluntary basis. The first St. John Ambulance was set up in England in 1877. However, Dr. (later Sir) John Lumsden established St. John Ambulance in Ireland in 1903 with volunteers he had given first aid training to whilst working as Chief Medical Officer at Guinness brewery in Dublin. Check the wikipedia entries for both John Lumsdenand the St. John Ambulance Brigade of Ireland, also the Earlscliffe website for more information.
