Germans were angry that their leaders had signed the Treaty of Versailles. When Germany failed to pay reparations ordered by the Treaty of Versailles, France occupied the Ruhr Valley.
Germany were very angry about the treaty because they had been forced to sign it, and so the War guilt clause 231, which meant Germany took responsibility for the war. This meant that they had to pay massive reparations of £6,600 million as compensation for the damage caused by the war. They also had land taken off them, their army limited to 100,000 mean, the Rhineland demilitarized for 15 years and the Saar taken off them and given to France for 15 years. This all humiliated Germany and made them hate the Treaty of Versailles.
In the 1870's Russia and France made an alliance. When Gavrilo Princip shot and killed Archduke Franz Furdinan of Austria-hungry made Kaiser Wilhem II (German leader) very angry. Germany and Austria decided they needed to punish Serbia (origin of Gavrilo Princip). Russia, serbias main allie sent troops to the Russian-German border threatening to attack if they attack Serbia. Well since France had Russia's back and Russia had France's back ever since the 1870's France sent troops to there forts near the German border. Germany declares war on Serbia, Russia, and France starting WW1 or The Great War as they called it. And Germany did not start WW1 they just did the last step. The old empires of Europe were starting to tick each other off so the assasinatoin of Franz Furdinan was the last step. 2nd improved answer: The German Plan to fight the Russians & French on two fronts was for Germany to start the war against France first with a quick invasion & defeat of France. Then Germany would be free to attack Russia before they were completely mobilized. Russia was historically slow to mobilize, whereas France mobilized faster. That was the reason for the attack on France first. The real problem for Germany was that the strategy required Germany to disregard possible diplomatic efforts to avoid war, because they took time, instead forcing Germany to start the war as early as possible (August 1914). This clearly made Germany the aggressor against France and Belgium (a neutral). The invasion of Belgium brought in the British to the war. The German unrestricted submarine warfare against Britain caused the United States to enter the war against Germany in April 1917.
The United States got angry with Germany because of its dictatorship that was spearheaded by Hitler.
France. Alsace and Lorraine became part of France during the 1600's. In 1871, Germany fought a war with France and won, and part of the settlement was that Alsace and Lorraine would be given to Germany and called "Alsace-Lorraine". France was angry about it and wanted "revanche"- revenge. As part of the settlement of World War I, Alsace-Lorraine was given back to France.

The Germans were still angry that the French beat them in the 1870s war, and intended to take over France by war, or at least, the Alsace-Lorraine, which France had previously taken from Germany. Sorry about the run-on sentence . . .
