God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground."

Genesis 1:28

ANOTHER ANSWER:

Think about it -- God made one male and one female. He made "sex." Then He told them to "reproduce" ["...be fruitful and increase in number..." (Gen.1:28 NIV New International Version).

It doesn't seem that God would have had to tell them to reproduce, except that the recorded Genesis creation account hits more the high spots of it rather than any minute details that surely must have gone along with His instructions to His "Children."

The Bible is "inspired" and "written" down for us in these final generations of mankind before the conclusion of this first phase of what God has planned for us in a cryptically, odd way:

"...the Word of the LORD was unto them [mankind in general] precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken." (Isa.28:13 KJV)

In other words, it wasn't just "sex" that God intended for the man and woman to do. You have to go elsewhere in the Bible [here a little, and there a little: in other words; dig into it, study it in Faith, to know and understand it] to discover what else God intended for His special creation to accomplish.

Because sexual relations between a man and woman truly does make babies. The Genesis account reveals that this is what God told them to do. But these "lines" don't detail what else He instructed them to do AFTERWARD!

The account doesn't detail that God explained to them His laws; the "rules" of their Father's household [as any good parent would set before his children] and other things He expected of them.

Such omitted details in the brief Genesis account would have been similar to God's instructions to the Israelites when He took them under His wing and instructed them in His laws and expectations. In the case of these following "lines" of inspired Scripture to HIS CHILDREN. God would have also given Adam and Eve these instructions:

"These are all the Commandments, laws, and regulations that the LORD your God told me to teach you so YOU MAY OBEY THEM in the land you are about to enter and occupy, and so YOU AND YOUR CHILDREN and GRANDCHILDREN might Fear the LORD your God as long as you live. If you OBEY all His Laws and Commandments, YOU WILL ENJOY A LONG LIFE.

"Listen closely, Israel [Adam... Eve], to everything I say. BE CAREFUL TO OBEY. Then all will go well with you, and you will HAVE MANY CHILDREN in the land flowing with milk and honey..."

"...you must Love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these Commandments I AM giving you today. REPEAT THEM AGAIN AND AGAIN TO YOUR CHILDREN. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are away on a journey, when you are lying down and when you are getting up again." (Deut.6:1-7 NLT New Living Translation)

These would be important instructions God would have given His Children, also. TO OBEY HIM!

It's the theme throughout The Bible, whenever God calls someone out of the world to Him: "Obey Me!"

"Because that Abraham OBEYED MY VOICE..." (Gen.26:5 KJV).

"Now therefore, IF YE WILL OBEY MY VOICE..." (Ex.19:5).

"Ye are My friends, IF YE DO WHATSOEVER I COMMAND YOU." (John 15:14)

But "DIS-obey" their Creator was what the first two people [male and female] did before they began to reproduce. They met the "Dragon" [see Rev.12:9] who was already here on planet earth before they were created. The man and woman were made on a refurbished planet where Satan and an army of disobedient, lawless angels had previously been cast down.

God intended for mankind to make ALL THE REST OF HIS CHILDREN... to have a "physical" hand in the creation of His future Divine, Immortal Family... the creation of His future Children. But like any good father... after all the instruction, discipline and right-teaching he can offer his children -- he has to allow his children to "experience life," both the good and the bad of it, because that's where "character-development" comes from. Either good character development or bad character development depend upon how we deal with our troubles and woes; head-on in a righteous manner or side-stepping them and avoiding them.

To those of God's Children who Trust Him, Believe in Him and Obey him, He says, "...we can feel good about our troubles, because we know that suffering develops endurance. Endurance develops character. Character develops Hope. And Hope never disappoints us, because God's Love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that was given to us." (Rom.5:3-5 IEBInternational English NT)

God expects His creation to Obey His Commandments... and for them, to TEACH THEIR CHILDREN about Him, so that "life might go well with them."

"Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter; fear God and keep His Commandments, for THIS IS THE WHOLE DUTY OF MAN." (Eccle.12:13)

The creation account, however, just hits the high spots. And the high spot in the account was for the man and woman to reproduce. That comes first... or there is no future Family of God.

The Bible offers us a choice of answers to this question.

The first creation story (Genesis 1:1-2:4a) says we are here to reproduce - (Genesis 1:27-28): "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply ..."

The second creation story (Genesis 2:4b-3:24) makes no suggestion that we are here to reproduce. After God created Adam, he gave no thought to creating Eve, instead creating the beasts of the earth as companions for Adam. It was only when Adam could find no helpmeet among them that God created Eve. Even then, there was no suggestion of reproduction until after they ate the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge. This author believed that we were not put here to reproduce.

Of course. If He didn't, He would not have created men and women with the ability to reproduce.

Why did God say u die if you eat of tree of knowledge if Adam was going 2 die if he ate or not becuz he couldn't live forever and reproduce and if he didn't reproduce then he had already disobeyed God?

does it say he couldn't live forever? the only reason man dies is to get out of this fallen world. if Adam and eve hadn't ate of the tree they would have continued living in a perfect place where nothing is bad also God probably had a different plan for them to reproduce but we can never be sure
