At Pentecost, the Holy Spirit, sent by Jesus Christ, as He had promised, descended upon the disciples of Jesus, giving them strength to preach the Good News. The Bible makes a distinction from Baptism and Confirmation. Acts 8:14-18Now when the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God, they sent them Peter and John, who went down and prayed for them, that they might receive the holy Spirit, for it had not yet fallen upon any of them; they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Then they laid hands on them and they received the holy Spirit. When Simon saw that the Spirit was conferred by the laying on of the apostles' hands ...Acts 19:1-6While Apollos was in Corinth, Paul traveled through the interior of the country and came (down) to Ephesus where he found some disciples. He said to them, "Did you receive the holy Spirit when you became believers?" They answered him, "We have never even heard that there is a holy Spirit." He said, "How were you baptized?" They replied, "With the baptism of John." Paul then said, "John baptized with a baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in the one who was to come after him, that is, in Jesus." When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul laid (his) hands on them, the holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied.

Doubleday & Co., Inc. Garden City, NY 1980Orders, Sacrament of.The sacrament that, by the imposition of a bishop's hands, confers on a man the grace and spiritual power to sanctify others. There are three forms of this sacrament, also called sacramental orders, namely diaconate, priesthood, and episcopate. They are not, however three sacraments, but only one sacrament that is separately administered with three successively higher sacramental effects. It is certain that every baptized male can be validly ordained, although it would be highly illicit to ordain him before the age of reason. It is likewise certain that every baptized male can be validly ordained a priest without previously being ordained a deacon. However, the more probably teaching is that a baptized male cannot be validly consecrated a bishop unless he has previously been ordained a priest.

Grieving the Holy Spirit is a serious thing. We are told in John 14: 16; 26, that the Holy Spirit is our Helper, Comforter, Advocate, Counselor, depending on your translation. If you grieve the Holy Spirit you will lose your comfort and you will not be helped through trials and small tribulations. You will not receive guidance etc. I would not want to live without these things now that I know how precious they are to me. Life would become very troublesome and weary. It is best if you do not grieve the Holy Spirit and if you do grieve Him make things right quickly. This is done by prayer.
