John 21:7 - Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, "It is the Lord!" Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment (for he had removed it), and plunged into the sea.[NKJV]
John first recognized Jesus. (John 21:7) Therefore that disciple whom Jesus used to love said to Peter: "It is the Lord!" Hence Simon Peter, upon hearing that it was the Lord, girded about himself his top garment, for he was naked, and plunged into the sea.
John 1:40 tells us that Jesus was near the Jordan River where John the Baptist was baptizing when He (Jesus) first met Peter. Later after turning the water into wine at Cana of Galilee, Jesus, His mother, His brothers, and His disciples went to Capernaum by the Sea of Galilee.
A:In the synoptic gospels, Jesus first met Peter and his brother Andrew as they were fishing at the Sea of Galilee. It is in John's Gospel that Peter was introduced to Jesus: Andrew was following Jesus and ran to tell Peter, who came and joined them.

According to the synoptic gospels (Matthew, Mark and Luke), Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee and saw Simon and his brother Andrew fishing. He called Simon Peter and Andrew to follow him. (Mark 1:15-16)According to John's Gospel, Andrew was a disciple of John the Baptist. He left John, to follow Jesus and, on the way, ran to bring Peter and they both followed Jesus (John 1:40-42).
