I believe the Academy of Motion Picture arts and sciences ( the Oscar awarding body) sensibly ruled that animals were/are not eligible for awards. a similar ruling was reached in World War II that ruled out decorations, such as Medals of Honor, Purple Hearts, etc, for animals in the service. Pentagon had the lights on in their head in this case! same goes for Hollywood.
