Life is made of choices, which has always been the case right from the beginning of mankind.
Adam and Eve were given that priviledge, but they were also held accoutable for their choice. Genesis chapter 3 is mankind's history.
Here is what a few people who went to war have to say about:
The Horrour of War
Soldiers:
" Catastrophic events--life-changing injuries or death--happen all around you. There is constant feeling of uncertainty." ( Gary, from Britain.
"I was hit by bullets in my back and face, and I saw many killed, including children and the elderly. War makes you hardhearted." Wilmar, from Colombia.
" When someone is shot in front of you, the scene doesn't just go away. The screaming and moaning continue. --Zafirah, from United States.
Civilians:
" I felt like I could never be happy again. You fear for your life, but even more than that, you fear for the lives of your family and friends. "-- Oleksandra, from Ukraine.
" It is terrifying to stand in line for food from 2.00 a.m. until 11.00 p.m., not knowing if you will be hit by a stray bullet." Daker, from Tajikistan.
" War left me without parents. It made me an orphan with no one to comfort or care for me".-- Marie, from Rwanda.
Here is what The Bible has to say.
Jeremiah 10: 23 reads. "It does not belong to man/woman who is walking even to direct his step." Which means humans were not created to rule themselves. They do a poor job of governing other people and solving their problems, as history has proven to be the case.
Human history is a tragedy compare to what Adam and Eve were offered. Genesis 2: 17 shows that Adam knew that if he did not eat from the tree of knowledge of good and bad he would not have died. Genesis 3: 16-19 and Romans 5: 12 talks about the consequences for mankind.
God's kingdom is the only government that has the power to solve all global problems permanently. Read Daniel 2: 44 and Matthew 6: 9,10.
So we all have the choice to choose God's solution or mankind's solution. But the outcome will not be the same.
Psalms 37: 29 reads. " The righteous will possess the earth, and they will live forever on it, which was what God offered Adam and Eve. So just as our porgenitors, we all have a choice.
So to answer your question, choosing to go to war means: killing or being injured or being killed.
Many people have found peace and are convinced that all war and violent conflict will soon end and the only solution is God's government, that will undo all the harm that millenniums of human rule have done, And it will provide : Perfect health for everyone, peace and security , and a clean environment.
They have chosen to become familiar with God's purpose for mankind and what our future holds, by studying the Bible. Read Reavelation 21: 4.
society viewed men as cowards and shamed them if they didnt go to war. Usually, they will be forced or drafted into the war and didnt really have a choice.
Drafted men had no choice; they just did what they were told (did their 2 yrs in the OD and departed). OD was one of many slang names for the Army back then, "Olive Drab."
yes they did have a choice to join but towards the end of the war there were two reffarendams held. Australian communitys had to vote on wheather they wanted conscription or not but they were not passed so austrlaian men did have a choice to join the army.
Adolf Hitler made all these decisions for Germany 1933-1945. It was his choice to go to war. The people of Germany generally supported his decision.
Men only, yes; until the end of the Vietnam War.
Conscription was used in World War 1, when men wouldn't join the army the Government used conscription as a way of making men join. They had absolutely no choice.
Yes that is true .... Men were the only ones allowed, women had to stay behind (they had no choice...).
to hunt to get food for the family by hunting an going to war if needed
They had to work in the factories for the first time ever.
young men felt patriotic about the war. This meant that they had a positive attitude about it and were eager to serve their country.
It was not your choice to pick if you wanted to got to war or not. It was not optional you had to go. Unless you had a valid reason for not going like lets say you are too old and ill to go to war you would make weapons or work in a factory any way you would still be contributing some work for war.
That's called politics. Fighting men (Sailors, Marines, Airmen, Soldiers) have no choice in the matter. They just get drafted, go to war, do their job, then go home.
