Other than founding the company now known as Nintendo, he contributed nothing towards the computer industry. The company originally produced gaming cards, under the name Nintendo Koppai, and became so successful it expanded into a major gaming corporation, Nintendo. However, Fusajiro died in 1940, long before Nintendo moved into the video gaming industry. See related links for more information.
The company actually started back in 1889 by Fusajiro Yamauchi, the great-grandfather of the present president, who began manufacturing "Hanafuda," Japanese playing cards, in Kyoto. The first video game from Nintendo is usually seen as "Game and Watch" - a little 8 bit watch with simple games that involved you moving a stick figure man to avoid falling objects and the like!
Nintendo shrinked the guts of a regular Nintendo DS and shoved it in a smaller shell, improved the ability to change the backlight intensity, changed the power cord, moved around the power button and stylus slot, added more stuff in pictochat, and improved some DS flaws, then called it the DS lite (for its backlight ability and possibly for its light weight).
Nintendo
Like most devices of this type, the Wii didn't appear "all at once" on a given date. The concept for the Nintendo Wii surfaced in 2001. It was not until 2003 that a big development team was assembled, and by 2005 the controller interface was up and running. Later that year the unit appeared at the Tokyo Game Show. It finally rolled out on 14 September 2006. A link can be found below for more information.
