To be clear, "This American Life" (produced by PRI, not NPR), has not claimed that they have the current recipe for Coke used by Coca-Cola today. They claim that they have found either the origianl coke recipe or a recipe made by the creator of coke.
The above is factual information.
In my opinon, This American Life presented a lucid and believable argument supporting their claims. I believe that they have found a precursor to the recipe that is used by Coca-Cola today. Possibly, this precursor is the orignal recipe. I do believe that this recipe was created and used by the person who created coke.
It's a secret too.
Coke do NOT release the ingredients of any of its lines especially coke. Its their trade secret
The ingredients in original Coke are:carbonated watersugar (type depends of country of manufacture)caffeinephosphoric acidcaramel colornatural flavorings (the secret formula known only to a few Coke executives)
No. But the original formula did have the illegal drug "coke" in it. Hence the name "Coke Cola"
That is a trade secret. Not even those who work at the bottling plants know what this is ... it is only known to two people, and I doubt that either of them will reveal this to anyone. However, the very basic ingredients that make up a cola are cinnamon and vanilla. Some may even include hints of citrus (such as Pepsi) or clove (Coca-Cola). dude check the site http://www.snopes.com/cokelore/formula.asp it has a formula in it

what is the chemical formula of citric acid? what is the chemical formula of acetic acid? what is the chemical formula of formic acid? what is the chemical formula of Latic acid? what is the chemical formula of oxalic acid? what is the chemical formula of ascorbic acid? what is the chemical formula of tartaric acid?
On the one hand, Coca Cola will claim that only a few high executives and employees know the "real" recipe. On the other hand, there have been plenty of publications of the founder's diary that had a recipe for it, and there has also been extensive chemical analysis of the drink. Given that, one need do little more than google "Coca Cola Formula", to get what must surely be very close to "the" recipe, if not the actual one used.
