The Scottish people hated Oliver Cromwell for several reasons. Firstly, he defeated the Scottish army during the Wars of the Three Kingdoms, leading to the occupation and repression of Scotland by English forces. Additionally, Cromwell's religious policies, such as the abolition of the Presbyterian Church in Scotland, were viewed as oppressive and a threat to Scottish identity and autonomy. Finally, Cromwell's authoritarian rule and disregard for Scottish political institutions and traditions further fueled resentment towards him.
Oliver Cromwell didn't give people a choice. In a way, he was a dictator. But no, he wasn't popular. He banned everything that people saw as "fun", including:Christmas DayDancingSinging in publicTheatreEating sweets on SundayPlaying sportsMake-upColourful clothesDecorations (for all occasions)Engaging in something that Cromwell banned resulted in very harsh penalties. He was the least popular ruler England has ever had. In fact, when Cromwell died, his own son refused to take his place because he disagreed with his father - so British rule was passed back to the rightful Monarchy.
Not a question, more a statement of the fact that you know nothing about who Oliver Cromwell was. Firstly he lived 1599-1658 making your scenario unlikely. He also had a great impact on the history of Ireland, England and Scotland. Not much of it good as far as Ireland and Scotland were concerned but still is a important part of history all the same. A simple Internet search of his name will give you all the information on him you could ever want as there is two much to fit in this. In short though to answer your question NO Oliver Cromwell did not name him self lord protector and banned drinking dancing and gambling after he got jumped on his way home from clubbing with the sisters.
He was a supporter or the patriot cause
The essence of government is not to obey, but to enforce obedience. And therefore it always strives for that and will never willingly abandon its power. But since the power of government rests on the army, it will never give up the army, and the use of the army. Tolstoy The Kingdom of God is Within You

Well, they don't GIVE them to you- they issue them- you have to give them back. And it will depend on what you do in the Army.
The Civil War ended because parliament won by Oliver Cromwells new model army. The Civil War ended because Charles I tried to join the Scots army and defeat the Roundheads but the Scots give him back to the Roundheads. But Oliver Cromwell was boring so the Scots tried to get Charles I back to over power Oliver Cromwell. So another battle happens and Cromwell wins and Charles I head get chopped off.
