Yes. At the time, England was the strongest nation in Europe and as such, there were naturally those who wanted to see it get knocked down a few pegs. Unlike the French though, who openly sent aid to the colonies, most helped by more subtle ways. England was very strong and not many nations were willing to openly help the American colonies because who wants to be on bad terms with the strongest nation in the world? Another Country that assisted was Spain who was an ally of France and wasn't too crazy about England. Not as well known as the French during the revolution, their role was critical as they loaned (and even gave, no strings attached!) money to the US to fund the revolution. Spain also allowed the US to take advantage of Spanish trade and merchant ships as to send war materials. Like Prussia and Poland, they also sent military leaders. However, all of this was done "under the table" to speak as Spain had suffered several losses to England and its strongest ally was having an economic crisis so it could not afford to make enemies out of England. The only thing Spain could do openly was send Spanish observers. Spain was a critical ally to the revolution as it opened another front against Britain. One notable figure was Friedrich Wilhelm von Steuben of Prussia who came to the colonies. Remember, the colonies were new to this whole being a country and organizing and army thing so Otto came over and helped with the organization. He's most well known for teaching the soldiers how to use artillery. He wrote a book on military organization that served as protocol all the way up until the war of 1812. Another is Tadeusz Kościuszko from Poland. Kościuszko assisted in several ways from assisting the colonies on matters of cavalry to engineering. It was Kościuszko who thought of fortifying the Delaware river to hinder the British. While not victories, he was also behind the successful retreats in Ticonderoga and Saratoga. He was so good, he was promoted to Brigadier general and transferred to the South where her won various battles. Unfortunately, despite his contributions to the American revolution, his cries for help fell on deaf ears when he returned to Poland who was being invaded by three foreign nations, one which was, ironically, one of his allies during the American revolution-- Prussia. Keep in mind that England was a very powerful country at the time and as such, it had made many enemies. Most of these enemies had been beaten soundly by England and weren't able to help openly but they tried to via under the table transactions. Many nations wanted to help out the colonies-- they just lacked the ability to do so but that doesn't mean they didn't cheer the colonies on when England wasn't looking.
