No. Life span was shorter. Today a man will live until 72 or more and a woman 84 or more. If you were alive in the 1300's the life span was about 30 years old. Most died younger through illness, accidents, wars. In the 1700's a man 50 was considered old and many women died young in childbirth. There was a saying in the colonies of a man introducing a wife as his "now wife." This referred to the fact that many women died young having children. If children lived past 2 years old it was often a miracle, so families were large because children died at young ages. Diet and health care has raised the life span of every person. People, for the most part, live better than generations in the past.
