What was the story of Demeter Persephone and Hades?
Persephone is Zeus and Demeters daughter. One day while in the meadow with her mother, picking flowers. Hades was nearby bringing dead souls to the underworld. Eros, the god of love, shot an arrow at Hades and he instantly fell in love with Persephone. The first person he saw. He then raced up in his chariot of black horses and captured her to bring down to th underworld. Demeter, the goddess of harvest, did not let anything grow until she found her daughter. Then Demeter had a idea, she went down to the underworld and found Hades with persephone, and demanded her return. Hades, with no other option had to let her leave. but before she did he had her eat a few seeds (if you eat in the underworld u will have to come back) and one day Persephone wanted to go back and now she lives with Hades as king and queen of the underworld. persephone only lives in the underworld during winter and autumn, she is with her mother in the spring and summer. that's why there are seasons
How did Hades and his wife get married?
Hades' wife Persephone was tricked into marrying him. When she fell into a hole that led to the underworld, she remembered what her mother (Demeter, goddess of agriculture) had told her; never eat anything in the underworld. When Demeter couldn't find her daughter, she was crestfallen and depressed, searching for Persephone each day. Finally after a few months, Hades hated to see Persephone look so sad, so he offered her a deal; if she ate 3 - 4 pomegranate seeds, he would let her go. Forgetting what her mother told her, Persephone agreed to the deal. When Hades let Persephone out of the underworld, Demeter was rejoicing with glee until Persephone told her about the seeds. Demeter immediately changed from happiness to sadness, because since Persephone ate the 4 seeds, she would have to live as Hades' wife in the underworld for 4 months. Persephone had a bit of a soft spot for lovers and all that, so she kind of persuaded Hades to let Eurydice go. She was young and Persephone had been young when Hades kidnapped her. Hades had to have a stipulation though, and Orpheus broke it, so it was all for nothing really.

The Abduction of Persephone: Persephone was above ground picking flowers in the spring, and helping the plants grow. Many desired Persephone, for she was one of the most beautiful goddesses in the history of Greek Myths. But, Hades wanted her more than anyone else, so he decided to capture her and bring her down to the underworld. This was known as the Abduction of Persephone, or The Rape of Persephone. While being in the underworld, Persephone didn't eat anything, except a few pomegranate seeds, which Hades had given to her to symbolize their love (even though Persephone hated him). Demeter and Zeus pleaded for Hades to let Persephone go, and he agreed, but only if she hadn't eaten anything in the underworld. As a deal, Hades said Persephone would stay down in the underworld for 1/2 of the year, and be above ground for 1/2 of a year.
