Prehistoric people came equipped with teeth and fists so they had these built in weapons. They would progress to the use of rocks and branches (clubs) to increase the distance and force that thy could transfer. The branches were later sharpened and fire hardened to provide stabbing weapons (spears). Rocks were modified to provide heavier club heads, and chipped into spear points and knives.
