They made her a princess anyway because of the publicity.(JUST LIKE MULAN) BUT if you remember from the movie, she just was the comedic, lets make fun of all the princess's girl. She NEVER married the prince, and no one knows if she actually was born royalty (like Aurora, considering that she lived in a similar situation) Nancy was the one that became a princess in the movie, and I don't know why they didnt just put the two girls together as princess's cause that would have been ok.
