The Nazis created their own protestant church. The aim was to phase out Christianity and replace it with Nazi philosophy. The Nazis had an agreement with the Vatican in that the Roman Catholic Church was allowed to educate the children in sunday schools.

Though most of the German population was protestant, most of the leaders of the Nazi party, including Hitler, were Roman Catholic.
