No, 6 million of them were killed. Given this number it is clear that the US did not do enough to prevent it. You may say that other countries should have done more too, but most of them were fighting for survival themselves and could do no more than they did.

The US had an opportunity to ransom several thousand Jews but negotiations took too long and we didnt want to give money (or equiptment) to our enemies.

There was very little that the US could have done once the war had started. Before the war there were calls for diplomatic sanctions, but equally the Jews were not seen as important enough to risk the economy over.

Once the Holocaust had started it was too late. The US, Britain and other countries should have allowed far more refugees in earlier.
