Henry I granted the custody of the castle to the Archbishop of Canterbury, William de Corbeil in 1127.
Rochester Castle stands 113 feet high and has a long history of destruction followed by rebuilding. The castle consists of three floors and a basement below. In addition, a tall fore building is attached. The fore building has its own defence system even before the castle keep itself is entered on the first floor level. Canterbury. The Archbishop of Canterbury is the top clergyman in the Church of England. He would perform royal weddings, blessings, funerals, etc. It is interesting that Canterbury is always used and not London, Westminster, or Windsor, where the church functions would be, and are performed. Canterbury is the Bishopric. He still is the top clergyman, his role is hostoric going back to the martyrdom of Thomas a Becket.....his role is extremely important to the solidarity of the Protestant/Anglican church in the UK
They are for Roman Catholics, the Pope and the collage of cardinals. For the Anglican communion, The Archbishop of Canterbury and the Synod. There are other branches of the Christian Church (Coptic, Orthodox etc) that have their own leaders.
Thomas Becket was Arch Bishop of Canterbury from 1162 through his death in his own Cathedral in 1170.
Henry chose Becket as archbishop because he was his friend and he did not like the way that they didn't get punished. because Becket was his friend he thought that he could change the church rules but he was wrong. Becket him self changed himself and he was determined to be a really good archbishop.

The high-ranking position in the church typically refers to the role of the bishop or archbishop, depending on the denomination. In the Roman Catholic Church, the Pope is considered the highest authority. In other Christian traditions, such as the Anglican Communion, the Archbishop of Canterbury holds a prominent position. Each denomination may have its own hierarchy and titles, but these roles generally involve significant spiritual and administrative responsibilities.
The Canterbury Tales is set in Chaucer's own time:- the Fourteenth Century. Probably some time around 1380.
Just make your own in Castle Builder ;).
Thomas Becket's shrine was more important than other shrines because he was the Archbishop of Canterbury who was murdered in his own cathedral. His martyrdom elevated his status, making his shrine a major pilgrimage site that attracted a large number of visitors and brought wealth and prestige to Canterbury. The popularity of his shrine also helped to solidify his reputation as a saint and martyr in the eyes of the Catholic Church.
Yes, he and his siblings own a ruined castle in Killarney, Ireland, where their father is buried.
This depends on the castle and the lord of the castle. The lady of the castle in medieval times often did not have her own space. However, as castles became more elaborate, ladies had their own rooms and maids.
