I do not understand your wording, but yes Artemis both killed people and killed animals - not always within the wilderness, but for insult given to her - and mountain wilderness was where she lived and roamed.
Artemis was one of many goddesses and gods of the Greek people, and Sparta was one of the Greek city states.
The both belong to the 12 Olympian gods. Artemis is a virgin goddess, Aphrodite, the goddess spreading love among people.
Artemis killed a great many people, thus it may be assumed she had many conflicts which were resolved swiftly.
Fixed it that whatever had made her mad wasn't around anymore. Greek Gods and Goddesses had a bad habit of killing people who angered them.
Apollo, in some myths, was said to have killed Orion, Artemis' companion, by sending a giant scorpion to sting him. It is debatable that Artemis even loved Orion. In many other myths, it is Artemis that killed Orion.
No Greek gods and goddesses do not "fade"; what fades is the memory of their worship and role in lives of people before more "modern" gods and goddesses. Thus Pan was "replaced" in his role by Hermes and Dionysus, and Helios by Apollo and Selene by Artemis - at least that is how it was seen by those of the Renaissance, to explain why gods and goddesses of ancient people seemed to have overlapping roles.
Niobe, daughter of Tantalus: told her people to stop worshiping Leto and Apollo and Artemis, for Niobe thought herself and her children greater then those gods and goddesses. She was punished by her six sons and six daughters dying at the hands of Apollo and Artemis: some myths claim a daughter or/and son survived.

Gods and Goddesses are beaning that have power that humans do not, they are often times thought of as all powerful and it is normally claimed that they require sacrifces and worship from people. Each of the gods and goddesses had their own area of responsibility. There is no WHY as to who does what.It could be that she was born to be a hunter. She was always was good at hunting even as a baby she could kill a wild boar.Addition:All the Greek gods had their responsibilities from the day they were born.
According to myth, Artemis did not die, for she was immortal. She was only forgotten, along with the other gods, when Ancient Rome converted to Christianity in 313 AD.Gods cannot die but only fade and this is only if everything they stand for is gone. Artemis in the Greek gods and myths is still very much alive.
