AnswerThey didnt really have medicines AnswerDuring the Middle Ages, European medicine was derived from the traditions of Rome, European folk medicine, and scientific work in the Muslim world. There is an interesting section on medieval pharmacology at the link below, and it is clear from it that many of the medicines were tested rather thoroughly to see that they worked.
