CD's man
The original Sony PlayStation, first released in Japan in December of 1994, used Compact Discs (CDs) as its storage medium. This was a matter of serendipity as the PlayStation was first made as the Play Station, an optical drive attachment for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System to supplant Nintendo's cartridge system. But upon Nintendo's termination of the joint venture, Sony decided to turn the Play Station into a full-fledged video game console.

Ken KutaragiIt is difficult to pin down an inventor of the PlayStation, as it's development was a collaboration of many people working for Sony, first as a planned peripheral for Nintendo and later as a fully fledge home gaming console. There is one man, however, who oversaw the development of the PlayStation from start to finish and is often considered the "father of the PlayStation". His name is Ken Kutaragi.
