Castro's revolutionary rebels won and took over the Cuban government so the revolution it self succeeded. But some would say that it was a failure for the Cuban people because Castro's allying with communist Russia at the height of the cold war caused the U.S. to sever diplomatic relations with Cuba until recently. This caused the Cuban people to suffer a great deal.
