Yes many many roman slaves were employed in agriculture
If their masters were kind enough, yes.
Most of the Ancient Egyptian were wealthy so they did, but the slaves mostly had to plant their food. Even some of the wealthy people planted their food.

cooking indoors was such a hazard. Their jobs where taken when slaves came into the city, slaves where cheeper and easier. When plebians did a job, the customer had to negotiate a deal and price. But, when slaves did it, all they needed was a little food, some water, and a bed or place to sleep.
