It is not recorded in The Bible, but I feel Christ died first , as they used nails on him and pierced his side. This was not done to the robbers, they had been tied with rope.

We are only told what the scriptures tell us about these two unfortunates. The one asked Christ that he might join Him in his kingdom, while the other ridiculed Christ. You will remember that Christ said that in His fathers kingdom there are many mansions, and that He would go and prepare a place for them. What Christ was saying was that in heaven there are many types of kingdoms or rewards that a person may be assigned to when they die, apart from the spirit world where all are taught the gospel. The kind thief was in a way repenting of his sins, while the other did not. Each would possible receive a different glory.

Before Christ was born, died and rose from the dead, those who trusted in God went to a place called Abraham's bosom (Paradise). When Christ died, he went there, and took the believers to Heaven. People who are saved that die today (in the years after Christ rose from the dead) go straight to Heaven.
