Hardly. The Vikings flourished about AD 1000. There is solid evidence that early man had organized, regular mammoth hunts thirty to fifty thousand years prior to that.
The Vikings invented a style of ship that was fast and expedient. Their dragon headed sloop style ship was able to carry large troops and travel across open ocean.
If by viking writing, you mean the Futhark, that is lost in history. The Futhark has been around since at least 200 CE, way before the vikings were vikings.
