Yes ABC Family officially canceled Kyle XY on January 31st 2009. People close to the show had a feeling felt like they could be cancelled back in August. Unfortunately since they had already had finished shooting the last episode the cast and crew could not go back and shoot a proper ending. While there has been no official reason for the cancellation most speculate it was due to the ratings, 1.3 million viewers per week (down 33% from season 2). However the cancellation was most likely due to the surprise of the success of Secret Life and ABC Family decided to move in a different direction. ABC Family is now targeting the female demographic and a show like Kyle XY does not attract that audience. Fans, like myself, are very upset that ABC Family would leave us with a cliffhanger after faithfully tuning in for three seasons. During season 2 ABC Family president touted Kyle XY as the tent pole of their network. And after a ten month hiatus and criminally low advertising Kyle XY's ratings did not come back. Many of us dedicated fans are doing a campaign effort to get an actual ending to this show.
