It depends on the bridge. As of the golden gate bridge i know its illegal but people still do it. Because they had somany people jumped off it and their shoot didnt open or budgy cord failed and they died their familys were fined and there for its illegal to jump off the golden gate bridge. Some states or jurisdictions have laws prohibiting diving off any bridges or overpasses. In some areas it may just depends upon whether or not the bridge is posted with a sign prohibiting the act and it varies for each bridge within that jurisdiction. There are many bridges in the United States that allow one to dive from them or bungee jump. Some bridges have signs saying jumping prohibited and you will be fined from 200-1000$
