Most important thing to do is listen to what the doctor tells you. Then, listen to your body. I had sigmoid colon resection done a week ago, and doctor told me I can eat whatever I want. Last night I ate grilled ckicken breast with some onions, white rice and black beans. Last night I had the most SEVERE gas ever, almost went to hospital I was in so much pain. I would stay away from anything that may produce gas. Make sure to do as much walking as frequently as you can. I may not feel gassy, but whenever I start walking, I start burping

There are two factors to consider. First, and most importatnly, what your doctor tells you. Second, what your body will tolerate. I had colon resection surgery done a week ago, and when I was released from hospital, doctor told me I can eat whatever I want. Last night I had grilled chicken breast with onions, white rice and black beans. Of course my appetite is not the same, eat a lot less, but despite that, after eating, I had SEVERE gas pain, to the point that I almost went to hospital.
