Type I Diabetes, the kind that usually happens in youger people, is caused by a person's own antibodies attacking the pancreas and making it not able to produce insulin. Type II diabetes, the kind that happens in overweight and older people happens because although the pancreas produces enough insulin, the body is not able to use it.
Diabetics' bodies cannot adequately process sugar and/or insulin. The body needs sugar, and insulin helps carry it to the cells. Without enough of either of these (or too much of one), the body experiences specific, potentially deadly, reactions. Non-diabetics do not have this problem.
The main differences in diabetes 1 and diabetes 2 is the cause. Diabetes 1 is caused when beta cells in the pancreas are being attacked by the body's own cells and are unable to produce insulin to take sugar out of the blood stream. Insulin is not produced. Diabetes 2 is caused when diet related insulin release is so large and frequent that receptor cells become less sensitive to the insulin. This insulin resistance results in less sugar being removed from the blood.
I would not recomend taking any answers online from an unreliable source. The best idea is to speak to your doctor about a subject as serious as diabeties.
