Difference between agonist and antagonist?

Agonist works with the muscles, and the antagonist is the muscle working against it in a contraction. i.e. Bicep curl, the agonist is the Biceps brachii and the antagonist muscle is the triceps brachii. The word agonist means "producing an action" - an antagonist opposes that action. In medicine, an agonist binds to a receptor site and causes a response, often imitating the natural body reaction. An antagonist acts against this drug and blocks the response. for examples ramiels small balls and pubic hair

What is difference between inverse agonist and antagonist?

Hi friends before going to discuss about inverse agonist and antagonist i would like to introduce two terms namely AFFINITY & EFFICACY. affinity is the ability of a molecule to bind to the receptor and Efficacy is the ability to produce pharmacological response. Inverse agonist and antagonist both have affinity but differs in Efficacy aspect. Efficacy of inverse agonist is less than zero and efficacy of antagonist was zoro. Regards Jagadeesh Induri

What is the difference between a character foil and the antagonist?

An antagonist is the person, or thing acting against the protagonist, or hero. It does not have to be the same species as the protagonist, or even alive at all. The foil always is. The foil, is a character who has contrasting/complementary characteristics to the protagonist. It's easiest to think of Hamlet, and realize that although King Claudius was the antagonist, it was Laertes who played the foil. The foil can be the antagonist, or a side kick, or anywhere in between.
