Nothing, both are terms for the free base (as in acid/base in chemistry) form of the cocaine alkaloid. This is obtained by mixing ordinary cocaine hydrochloride salt with an alkali.

Is cocaine water soluble?

Yes it is. Powder cocaine, or cocaine hydrocloride is. Cocaine base, freebase/"Crack" is NOT. This is why dealers keep the rocks in their mouth... At least here in Detroit they do.

A flaw is when something is damaged or not right. But a crack is a fracture in the object. What is the difference between chalk and cocaine?

That's easy. Chalk is cheaper. If you are talking about crack there is a HUGE difference. Crack is made of what is left from the process of transform coca leaves in cocaine, the most harmful part, witch is disposable, that's what everybody knows in South America where I came from. Now they mix this very harmful left over with even more harmful ingredients and make the crack, but unfortunately the truth is a taboo in USA, and many think that cocaine and crack ARE THE SAME. There is more about the truth, crack will kill in a period of two years, and will make anyone addicted to it at the very first time, the brain will get hooked right away. Too bad we still hear that cocaine and crack are the same.

What is the chemical reaction between cocaine hydrochloride and sodium bicarbonate?

Coc-H+Cl− + NaHCO3 → Coc + H2O + CO2 + NaCl= Crack (Freebase) Cocaine When sodium bicarbonate is heated, it breaks down into carbon dioxide and sodium carbonate. The cocaine molecule contains hydrochloride, which the sodium carbonate reacts to. The reaction strips the cocaine molecule of the hydrochloride, which leaves it as an oily free base, which can be molded into a rock-like shape.

What is morphine freebase?

The term "freebasing" is a misnomer as it refers to the composition of the drug. It does not mean "to smoke" the drug per se, but you cannot smoke morphine in its non-freebase form. Morphine freebase is just morphine. Most formulations of morphine are either morphine salts (MSO4) where the freebase is protonated, or morphine hydrochloride which is morphine that is treated with hydrochloric acid (HCl). In order to create morphine freebase, you have to extract the morphine from the formulation by chemically altering the composition. This is really no different to producing crack, which is the freebase of cocaine. The most common reason for producing morphine freebase is in order to make heroin, which can then be smoked or injected.Previous answerTo freebase morphine means to smoke that stuff off some foil with a straw.

What is the difference between free base and salt forms of drugs as amphetamine?

What is the difference between crack cocaine and regular cocaine in a urine test?

If you smoke it, yes. Crack is freebase cocaine. They both metabolize into benzoylecgonine, however when you burn crack, your also releasing methylecgonidine which it is metabolized to ecgonidine.

What is the Sources of crack cocaine?

Crack cocaine is a crude freebase form of cocaine. Cocaine is generally not made synthetically, but rather extracted from the coca plant, which is extensively cultivated for cocaine production. The extracted cocaine is then purified and reacted to form a more stable salt for distribution. This salt of cocaine is reacted, typically by the consumer or 'dealer', with sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) to free the cocaine base from the salt, hence the term freebase. Although there are other ways of producing purer freebase cocaine, these methods are more complex and often involve dangerous chemicals. Crack cocaine is typically not used to refer to the purer freebase. In fact, the term 'crack' comes from the crackling noise that is produced by the residual baking soda in the product, which decomposes when heated.
