In real mode, the effective memory address is the same as the linear, or physical, memory address. The segment register operates by specifying the base of a 64kb region of memory, each region overlapping the other by 16 bytes.
In protected mode, the effective address is translated by the page table which provides a larger region size and more memory addressibility. The segment register, a/k/a selector, selects the particular page table to use.
The bits path size, real mode works on a 16 bit path size and protect mode works using a 32 bit path size.
= What is the difference between real mode and protected mode =
Real mode processor works as 8086/8088 while Protected mode processsor works as 80286
In real mode it handle automatic through the use of an internal machine together with the segment register.
real mode, protected mode and long mode real mode, protected mode and long mode Or: 16-bit modes (real, protected or virtual), 32-bit mode (protected), 64-bit modes
The only difference between Insert Mode and Overtype Mode is that characters are placed in front of the text after the cursor in Insert Mode, where as existing characters are overwritten in Overtype Mode.
Real mode -16bit Protected mode -32bit
nothing they are both the same
protected mode
Real Mode and Protected Mode
To switch from real mode to protected mode in the 80386, set the PE bit in the MSW in CR0, and then immediately execute a JMP to flush the prefetch queue.
The 8251 is a USART (Universal Synchronous Asynchronous Receiver Transmitter). It does not have a minimum and maximum mode.
Both are used for Return operations. But the difference is IRET uses extra 2 bytes along with 2 bytes(making it 4 bytes) for poping from stack. And RET uses only 2 byte of instruction for Poping. IRET is used to switch from Virtual Mode to Protected Mode whereas RET isn't.
In text mode your options will be limited to fonts, sizes, and colors; in graphic mode you should have more Paint-like options.
