Christianity teaches that Jesus is the son of God. Islam teaches that Jesus was a messenger of God.

Christianity teaches the concept of Original Sin. Islam does not.

Islam teaches that Muhammad was a messenger of God. Christianity does not.

Christianity and Islam have similar religious roots in the Middle East although what was believed about individual characters represented may diverge very greatly. For example, in Christianity Jesus is the savior, but in Islam he is a prophet.


In fact the differences between the two sects of Islam is more a political than spiritual. On spiritual front, they are the one, but regarding the successor of the Prophet of Islam, they have differences. But it doesn't necessarily makes them the two cults of Islam as in Christianity, only they are the two paths of understanding the religion and both the ways upholds the real message of Islam which is the faith in one God and the message of his last Prophet Muhammad.
