Are you an American? Well I will keep it simple. 1st gear should only be used to pull away from a standing start. The pedel on the left should be depressed fully to the floor with your left foot. Then move the "Stick shift" into the correct gate and simultanisly lift off the cluch and depress the "Gas" pedel. when you reach roughly 3000 revs take your foot off the "gas" and put your left on the clutchand move the stick into the gate for second gear. Don't select 1st whilst the car is moving.

C might mean calibrate, the manual for the scale would tell you for sure but changing the battery would be a great first thing to check. If you don't have the manual, then be sure to look up online. If the manual doesn't talk about calibration, then you scale is likely broken. Try changing the batteries as a last step.
