You will see two channels each for most networks, if you have an DirecTV HD RECEIVER. One of the two channels is for broadcasting in HD (high-definition) (if the network has HD Capabilities). The other channel is for SD, standard definition. It is there, for you to use in case the HD channel is not working. If you go into the menu, you can turn off the "Show SD Duplicates" setting.
